Book-table Outreach: We meet members of the public through the book-table ministry every Tuesday from 12.00 noon till 4.00pm at the market, in the Town Centre. We meet people who are interested in receiving help from our volunteers through multiple projects which are run by the KKF Charity. We give out the literature and help to the community free of charge.
Qawwali (cultural music) and Dinner Evening: Prominent Pakistani leaders attend the event. Some of these leaders have also been coming to meetings in the home of KKF leaders at other times, often bringing their friends.
Hospitality: Friendships and relationships have been developed through Peace and Faith Events over the years and as participants visit each other. KKF leaders have developed many friendships from all kinds of ethnic and religious backgrounds and they continue to welcome friends and visitors who pop into their house for tea or coffee and a chat.
Partnership between Council for Christian Muslim Relations (CCMR) and KKF: The KKF trustees have been enjoying the relationship with the CCMR (Council for Christian and Muslim Relations, formed in 2006), and two KKF trustees continue to be a part of CCMR meetings every month or so. The CCMR and KKF continue to help each other on a voluntary basis as long as it is in the interest of the community.
Community Services: KKF volunteers organise community visits as well as provide lifts to families in need. They continue volunteering with the following activities, assisting many families and individuals:
- Accompanying people to hospitals and airports
- Consulting with solicitors and public agencies at the request of others
- Visiting and supporting individuals in prisons and detention centres
- Helping/advising families when moving home and getting housed
- Tutoring or coaching young people for life and in different subjects
- Helping organise children’s birthday celebrations
- Visiting and assisting families affected by the death of a relative
- Helping women to improve their English
- Helping with school runs in case of severe illness of parents
- Help with gardening
Tutoring maths & Science: One of our trustees teaches maths free of charge to foster good relationships with the local community.
Annual BBQ gathering and fellowship: During these times of fellowship we hear testimonies and sing worship songs together with professional Pakistani Christian singers. The programme is socially, culturally and spiritually relevant to the background of the guests present.
Peace and Faith Events: These multi-faith events are held several times a year at the Guildhall on the High Street and two we usually have two Iftar events (breaking the fast during the month of Ramadan) at two mosques.
The Right Way (TRW) Conferences: The annual conference is gaining momentum in the UK and beyond. All the participants who attend find the conferences very fruitful. We have added people to the resource group from which we draw to further improve the breadth of experience and expertise. The participants acknowledge that we have been providing a great service to the community by bringing likeminded people together from all over the UK for networking and learning from each other.
Christmas Dinner and Celebrations: We celebrate Christmas with Pakistani and Asian believers, welcoming up to 150 guests for the dinner and worship. In the past this has been hosted at a Baptist Church. The Church has provided volunteers to help with the event. This is an annual event.
